Gang Attacks White Family, Shouts "This is a Black World";

Police "Aren't Ready to Call it a Hate Crime" - Many opponents of hate-crime laws have long pointed out that they will never be applied equitably. The laws exist solely to punish members of politically-incorrect groups who commit politically-incorrect crimes. That is to say, they're not about eliminating hate - they're about targeting those the left hates.

If ever there was a case that vindicated this thesis, it's a recent unprovoked attack on a white Ohio family by a mob of black teens. Phil Trexler at Ohio.com reports:

It [the attack] came after a family night of celebrating America and freedom with a fireworks show at Firestone Stadium. [Marty] Marshall, his family and two friends were gathered outside a friend's home in South Akron.
Out of nowhere, the six were attacked by dozens of teenage boys, who shouted ''This is our world'' and ''This is a black world'' as they confronted Marshall and his family.

Despite this, Trexler tells us, "Akron police say they aren't ready to call it a hate crime or a gang initiation. But to Marty Marshall, his wife and two kids, it seems pretty clear."
Yes, it seems pretty clear to anyone with two brain cells to rub together.

Now, I don't believe in hate crime legislation and have devoted copious ink to demonstrating its Orwellian nature. But if this isn't a "hate crime," what is? What has to happen for politically-correct, thoroughly corrupt authorities to label a bias crime against whites just exactly what it is? Do the perpetrators have to sign a notarized affidavit prior to the act stating, "We hereby acknowledge that we hate white people and are committing this act of violence on that basis"?

I understand that the police are generally circumspect in what they say. But, in the least, their statement should have been something to the effect of, "We're not officially calling it a hate crime yet, but it certainly appears as if the perpetrators were motivated by bias."

Of course, chances are good, I suppose, that Akron authorities will ultimately bring hate-crime charges (assuming the thugs are caught). If they do not, however, the city's citizens ought to demand that the whole leadership of its police force be fired and replaced.

And while we're at it, let's get rid of hate-crime laws - otherwise known as "get-whitey laws" - too.

I certaintly do believe in "hate crimes". Hate crimes that involve beating or killing someone soley because they are gay, black, hispanic, jewish, ect ect ect. I don't however believe Fat Nick committed a hate crime, and I don't believe he should be in jail. As for this incident, only Domi would be on the side of the thugs when even Rev Al is calling for their heads!





"We Rule Now" Attack Possible "Hate Crime"

Akron, Ohio mayor Don Plusquellic has asked the FBI to investigate a June 27th attack by a gang of African-American youth on a White family while yelling, "we rule now" for possible civil rights violations and as a potential "hate crime" - and even Al Sharpton approves of it.

Marty Marshall, his wife and two children had just returned from watching fireworks at Firestone Park with two friends. Suddenly, a roving gang of 50 Black youths attacked them, chanting and shouting "we rule now," "this is our world," and "this is a black world now."

The phrases used by the Black gang as they beat on the White family are believed to be a reference to the US presidential victory of Barack Obama.

Akron police have independent eyewitness confirmation that the attack was done by 30-50 Black youth who attacked the White family without provocation and as they described.

"This was almost like being a terrorist act," Marshall said. "And we allow this to go on in our neighborhoods?"


Al Sharpton
The odd twist to this story comes from no other than civil rights activist Al Sharpton, who has made his career focusing on anti-Black bias crimes. Sharpton has personally condemned the attack and welcomed the FBI investigation. "These teens need to be punished as much as any dumb redneck in white sheets," said Richard Jones, a Sharpton spokesman based in Cleveland. "Nobody should be attacked like this, whether they are black or white. These young men who are responsible need to be brought to justice."

Akron police initially did not classify the incident as a "hate crime" because no other attacks happened that night, but did call in the department's gang crime unit is involved with the investigation. "We don't know if it's a known gang, or just a group of kids," police Lt. Rick Edwards said.

Public outrage over the assault is believed to have prompted officials to rethink their position. Police told the Marshalls this week that they were unaware of the chants until reading about them in the newspaper, even though Marty's wife Yvonne told police and a detective about the chants used during the attack. That part of Mrs. Marshall's account is nowhere to be found in a police report released by the department. A box to denote whether the attack was a hate crime is marked "no bias/not applicable."

"I was offended," Yvonne Marshall said today of the follow-up interview with police. "The detective who was questioning me made me feel like I'm a liar, or that we didn't say it."

"I know I told them that night that the group was saying, 'This is our world.' The whole interview made me feel very uncomfortable."

In an interview today, Marty Marshall said police questioned him late Wednesday night about the attack and the chants he heard.

Marshall suffered a concussion and multiple bruises to his head and eye. "They were trying to take my head off my spine, basically," he says. The construction worker spent five nights in the critical care unit at Akron General Medical Center. He now is afraid for his family and the thousands of dollars in medical bills he faces without insurance.

"I knew I was going to get beat, but not as bad as I did," Marshall said. "But I did it to protect my family. I didn't have a choice. There was no need for this. We should be all getting along. But to me, it seems to be racist."


Mayor Don Plusquellic
Mayor Plusquellic addressed the bias angle in his letter requesting FBI help. "Accounts from the victim have indicated his assailants prefaced the attack with statements that could indicate a racial motivation to the crime," Plusquellic wrote.

"Our priority is the same as it is with every crime: to find justice for the victims. But, it is also important that we carefully examine the motivation behind this attack and address that if necessary."

In the statement, the mayor said the investigation into the attack will try to determine whether it "falls under the category of a violation of civil-rights protection and should, consequently, be considered a 'hate crime.'

"This ruling must, by law, be made by federal authorities, and therefore we are asking for their assistance in this matter. Make no mistake, most important is that the perpetrators are caught and brought to justice. I know that our police department is doing everything it can to aggressively pursue the investigation into this horrible incident.

"I ask our citizens to not confuse the technical/legal issue of a federally designated 'hate crime' with the fact that our police department is taking all necessary steps to solve this crime."
